Mind the Mum project addresses perinatal mental health in Cyprus and Slovenia

The European project 'Mind the Mum,' co-funded by the EU4Health program, is currently addressing high rates of depression and anxiety among mothers in Cyprus and Slovenia. Led by the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) under the coordination of Dr. Eleni Hadjigeorgiou, the project aims to improve mental health support during the perinatal period. A mid-term meeting was held on June 10-11 at the University of Gdansk in Poland. Partners include the CUT Nursing Department and Birth Forward from Cyprus, Institute Umbilica from Slovenia, the University of Gdansk from Poland, and the European Institute of Perinatal Mental Health from Spain. Experts in obstetrics, nursing, psychiatry, and psychology are collaborating to develop systematic screening programs and support structures. The project emphasizes the necessity of staff training and systemic maternal support. Findings and recommendations are expected to be presented soon in Cyprus.
