IMO launches evacuation plan for sailors trapped in the Persian Gulf

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has announced a large-scale operation to evacuate more than 11,000 sailors currently stranded in the Persian Gulf region. These individuals have been unable to leave due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which occurred following the onset of the conflict in the Middle East. IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez stated that the mission is being coordinated with Iran, Oman, and other coastal nations in the region. The United States and representatives from the global shipping industry are also collaborating on the logistical effort. Dominguez confirmed that necessary security guarantees have been obtained to facilitate the safe passage of the personnel. This operation aims to resolve the humanitarian and labor crisis caused by the ongoing maritime blockage.
