President Christodoulides addresses US independence anniversary event in Nicosia

President Nikos Christodoulides attended a reception at the US embassy in Nicosia to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States' Declaration of Independence. During his address, he emphasized the deepening strategic partnership between Cyprus and the US, which has evolved across sectors including defense, security, energy, innovation, and education. He noted that bilateral relations were further strengthened by the launch of a Strategic Dialogue in October 2024. Christodoulides highlighted the presence of US companies in the Cypriot Exclusive Economic Zone and mentioned ongoing efforts to include Cyprus in the US visa waiver program. Additionally, the President announced that further positive updates regarding bilateral cooperation are expected by the end of June. He also reaffirmed the importance of strengthening EU-US relations as a priority for his administration.
