Andri Hadjiandreou elected as deputy mayor of Aglantzia
Andri Hadjiandreou was elected as the new deputy mayor of Aglantzia following a by-election held on Sunday, June 28. The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of former deputy mayor Andreas Constantinou, who was elected as a member of parliament for DISY. Hadjiandreou, a 44-year-old musician and academic, ran as an independent candidate supported by AKEL, DI.PA, EDEK, Alma, and the Ecologists Movement. She competed against fellow independent candidate Prokopis Prokopiou. Out of 15,182 registered voters, only 4,209 people participated in the election, resulting in a low turnout of approximately 27.7%. The voting process concluded at 18:00 across all polling stations without significant issues reported. Hadjiandreou's professional background includes a PhD in music performance and teaching roles at the University of Nicosia and the Ministry of Education's music school program.
