Hungarian nurse arrested for possession of human remains

On June 17, the Hungarian National Bureau of Investigation (NNI) arrested a 30-year-old hospital worker in Budapest. The suspect is accused of collecting human remains, including skulls, bones, a lower limb, a hand, and other anatomical specimens. Authorities discovered these items during a search of his home and workplace, alongside a construction resembling a human face made from skin and a heart preserved in a jar. The suspect allegedly obtained these items from his hospital workplace and abandoned cemeteries. During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to the collection and expressed a fixation on anatomy and pathology. Authorities are currently investigating whether the heart belongs to a human or an animal. The suspect also claimed to have cooked and consumed food derived from human remains, though investigations into the legal and forensic implications of his actions are ongoing.
