EU reaches deal on single digital platform for posted workers
On Tuesday, the Council of the EU under the Cypriot Presidency and the European Parliament reached a provisional political agreement to establish a single digital platform for the declaration of posted workers. This reform, part of the 'One Europe, One Market' roadmap signed in April 2026, aims to address one of the ten primary obstacles to intra-EU mobility. The regulation mandates the full digitalization of the declaration process for employees temporarily working in a member state other than that of their employer. According to European Commission estimates, this initiative could reduce business compliance time by up to 73% and administrative costs by up to 58%. Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Rauna and Energy Minister Michael Damianos highlighted the agreement as a strategic step toward a more competitive and integrated single market. The measure allows member states to integrate this platform into their existing national systems. This agreement was successfully reached within the targeted deadline of June 2026. It is intended to simplify cross-border service reporting while enhancing the ability of national authorities to monitor compliance.
