Former Greek footballer and coach Takis Gonias dies at 54
Takis Gonias, a notable Greek footballer and coach, has passed away at the age of 54 due to a serious health issue. His professional career began at Levadiakos, where he played for five years. As a midfielder, he recorded 270 appearances and scored 36 goals throughout his career, representing clubs such as Olympiacos, Iraklis, Paniliakos, Panionios, Sporting Gijon, Messina, and Crotone. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching, managing teams including Glyfada, Episkopi, Athens Kallithea, Ergotelis, Wadi Degla, and Pyramids. His final coaching position was at Pyramids FC, where he served two separate tenures. The funeral is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 17:00 at the Agios Panteleimon church in Livadeia. Levadiakos FC confirmed the news and expressed condolences to his family.
