Two doctors suspended for six years for falsifying medical credentials

On June 22, 2026, the Medical Disciplinary Council of Cyprus announced the suspension of two doctors, Alevtina Kuzitseva-Markou and Victoria Kuzitseva-Christodoulou. The disciplinary action was taken after it was determined that the doctors provided false information to the Cyprus Medical Council. Specifically, both individuals claimed to have completed four years of continuous postgraduate training in General Medicine at the Gomel State Medical University in Belarus. Evidence indicated that the doctors were aware this information was inaccurate at the time of their application. By misrepresenting their academic background, they secured medical specialty recognition that they otherwise would not have received. Consequently, the Council imposed a six-year suspension on their right to practice medicine, effective from June 22, 2026, until June 22, 2032.
