Portuguese ambassador concludes term in Cyprus

On Wednesday, the Portuguese Ambassador to Cyprus, Vanda Sequeira, held a farewell meeting with the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, marking the end of her diplomatic tenure. During the meeting, Ambassador Sequeira assured the House President of Portugal's continued support for Cyprus. Demetriou expressed appreciation for the cooperation between the two nations and the efforts made to strengthen bilateral relations. The discussion also addressed the Cyprus problem ahead of an upcoming informal expanded conference. Demetriou emphasized the necessity of achieving tangible results to facilitate the resumption of negotiations. She stated that pressure must be exerted on Turkey, noting the significance of the potential appointment of an EU special envoy for the Cyprus issue. Furthermore, the House President reiterated that any progress in Turkey’s European path is contingent upon its compliance with international law and European Union values.
