Police operation dismantles drug trafficking ring on Mykonos
On Wednesday, June 24, the Hellenic Police Organized Crime Division launched a major operation on the island of Mykonos to dismantle a criminal network involved in drug trafficking. Authorities seized over 2 kilograms of cocaine, along with significant quantities of pink cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, ketamine, cannabis, and ecstasy pills. Six individuals have been arrested so far, including a man identified as the alleged ringleader, who is an Albanian national operating a tourist van company on the island. A Romanian woman, reported to be the partner of the leader, was also among those detained. Police have been monitoring the group for months, noting that the network sought to capitalize on the start of the summer tourist season. The operation remains ongoing, and investigators have not ruled out further arrests or additional seizures as the preliminary investigation continues. Reports vary slightly regarding the total number of arrests, with some sources citing five and others six detainees.
