European commissioners visit Cyprus for regional policy discussions

Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Raffaele Fitto and Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans Costas Kadis are conducting a two-day visit to Cyprus on June 25 and 26. On Wednesday, Mr. Fitto will meet with President Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia. Following this, he will visit the village of Agios Ioannis in the Pitsilia region as part of the 'Right to Stay' initiative and tour the Troodos Observatory, which received European Union funding. On Thursday, the officials will attend a high-level conference in Paphos titled 'Strengthening the islands and coastal communities of the European Union'. During this event, Raffaele Fitto is expected to present the European Union’s strategy for islands. Commissioner Costas Kadis will also present the European Union’s strategy specifically concerning coastal communities. The conference will bring together European leaders, ministers, policy experts, and regional stakeholders to discuss the future development of these areas.
