Elderly man arrested at Attikon hospital near actress Maro Kontou's room

On Wednesday evening at approximately 22:00, a 90-year-old man was arrested at the Attikon hospital in Athens. The man attempted to reach the cardiology clinic where actress Maro Kontou is currently hospitalized, claiming to be a relative. He was carrying a flower pot and a box that was found to contain a knife. Hospital security became suspicious of his behavior and conducted a search, which led to the discovery of the weapon. Sources differ regarding how the knife was found: some reports state it was inside the box, while POEDHN president Michalis Giannakos claims the knife was in the man's back pocket and was spotted by a nurse. Following the discovery, police were called to the scene and the suspect was taken to the Haidari police station. Authorities are currently investigating the suspect's motives for bringing a weapon into the medical facility.
