Protaras municipality launches digital beach monitoring platform

The municipality of Protaras has introduced a new digital platform designed to provide real-time information about conditions at its organized beaches. This system utilizes a network of cameras and weather stations installed at each location. Users can access the app to view live video feeds, current weather conditions, and water temperature data. According to municipal officials and correspondent Paraskevi Paskoui, the initiative aims to help visitors plan their outings by allowing them to check beach occupancy and conditions remotely. The project is part of a broader municipal effort to modernize services through digital tools. By providing this information, the municipality intends to assist visitors in saving time and avoiding unnecessary travel to crowded or unsuitable locations. This development follows recent recognition for Cyprus, which saw 56 beaches and two marinas receive Blue Flags for 2026.
