Limassol to launch smart parking system in July

The Municipality of Limassol is set to implement a new smart parking system in early July 2025, covering approximately 2,500 parking spaces in the city centre. The project, awarded to Blue Sun Automation Ltd in June 2025, is valued at €5.17 million plus VAT. Key features include the installation of sensors for real-time occupancy monitoring, a mobile application for navigation, and electronic payment options. On-street sensors have been placed, and barriers will be installed at major organised facilities, such as the Enaerios site and near the Limassol pier, where capacity and flow improvements are planned. The Kanika parking facility will be closed from July 1 to July 3 for asphalt resurfacing works. Although official pricing remains unconfirmed, municipal discussions suggest a potential rate of approximately €1 per hour with a daily maximum of €15. Authorities are currently reviewing potential parking concessions for permanent residents, though no final decisions have been published.
