President Christodoulides meets with EU Executive Vice-President Raffaele Fitto
On Thursday, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, met with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Cohesion and Reforms, Raffaele Fitto, at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia. The discussion focused on the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework, the European Union's strategy for islands, and the 'Right to Remain' initiative. President Christodoulides expressed his gratitude for Fitto's support regarding the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU. Raffaele Fitto noted the progress made on the Multiannual Financial Framework and the national regional partnership governance. The meeting preceded a High-Level Conference titled 'Strengthening the Islands and Coastal Communities of the European Union' scheduled for Friday in Paphos. Fitto is expected to deliver a keynote speech at the conference regarding the EU island strategy. Both officials affirmed that their cooperation would continue beyond the current presidency term. The discussion underscores the strategic priority placed by the Cypriot government on regional cohesion and island development policies.
