White House requests $88 billion supplemental budget for conflict with Iran

The U.S. presidency has formally requested that Congress approve an $88 billion supplemental budget to address urgent needs arising from the ongoing conflict with Iran. Budget Director Russell Vought submitted the proposal to House Speaker Mike Johnson, urging rapid legislative action. The request allocates over $67 billion to the Pentagon to support military operations that reportedly began on February 28, alongside funding for ammunition replenishment. An additional $11.1 billion is earmarked for American agricultural support. Furthermore, $672 million is designated for the Department of Energy to ensure the cessation of Iran’s nuclear weapon development capabilities. Finally, $300 million is requested for the State Department to renovate and secure diplomatic facilities in the region, which have reportedly been targeted during the hostilities.
