Cyprus Institute launches new energy market data platform

On June 24, 2026, the Cyprus Institute introduced CyCEM – Insights, an online platform dedicated to the Cyprus Competitive Electricity Market. The system aggregates publicly available data across multiple sectors, including the forward market, day-ahead market, and balancing markets. It incorporates the Integrated Scheduling Process and the real-time balancing market to provide a unified data environment. Users can access metrics such as trading volumes, electricity prices, generation mix, and the integration of renewable energy sources. The platform supports visual analysis on hourly, daily, and monthly scales and allows for data exports. Professor Theodoros Zachariadis stated that the initiative aims to increase transparency and support evidence-based energy analysis for stakeholders. The project was developed by experts in energy markets to fill a significant information gap. It is intended to serve as a hub for informed public discussion regarding the island's evolving power sector.
