Police conduct overnight crime and traffic enforcement operations in Cyprus

Cypriot police conducted overnight operations aimed at crime prevention and traffic safety. Reports on the number of arrests vary, with police statements citing either eight or ten individuals detained for offenses including theft, illegal residence, assault, drug possession, and carrying knives. Traffic enforcement efforts involved checking between 573 and 803 passengers and drivers. Between 283 and 376 traffic citations were issued, with speeding offenses ranging from 93 to 98 cases. Alcohol and drug testing resulted in between two and seven citations for alcohol and two citations for drug-related driving violations. Officers inspected between 37 and 39 buildings, issuing six to seven complaints. Additionally, police seized or impounded between six and twelve vehicles during the operations.
