Death of Giorgos Stefanou, father of AKEL General Secretary

Giorgos Stefanou, the father of AKEL General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou, passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 90. His funeral will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Church of Saint George in Pano Deftera. The family will receive condolences at the church starting at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of wreaths, the family has requested that donations be made to the People's Network for Social Solidarity of Nicosia-Kyrenia. Following the service, a coffee reception will take place at the Doxa Defteras association. The Democratic Rally (DISY) party has publicly expressed its condolences to Stefanos Stefanou and his family. The official announcement was circulated on the same day the death occurred.
