British bases police conclude four-week security operation at coastal beaches

The British Bases Police have concluded a four-week security operation titled 'Guardian' at Lady’s Mile and Kourion beaches, resulting in 12 arrests. These coastal areas reportedly attract over 7,000 visitors on weekends. Among the detainees is a 34-year-old Bulgarian national, who was arrested last weekend for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of narcotics, and possession of offensive weapons including knives, a sickle, and a club. He remains in custody pending a court hearing on 6 July. Furthermore, authorities booked 20 drivers for traffic violations and issued 60 written warnings regarding traffic and the unauthorized use of speedboats. Two individuals were referred to the Akrotiri Bases Administration for operating businesses without proper licenses. Chief Inspector Tony Demetriou stated that the operation aims to prioritize public safety and maintain order at these popular locations.
