British bases police report 12 arrests at Lady's Mile and Kourion beaches
Following four weeks of intensive police presence at the Lady’s Mile and Kourion beaches, the British Bases Police have reported a total of 12 arrests. These operations are part of the ongoing 'Guardian' initiative. One significant arrest occurred last weekend involving a 34-year-old Bulgarian national, who was detained for drug-related offenses and possession of prohibited items, including knives, a sickle, and a wooden club. The individual remains in custody awaiting a court appearance on July 6. Additionally, authorities issued 20 citations for traffic violations and 60 warnings regarding traffic laws and the illegal use of speedboats. Two individuals were referred to the Akrotiri administration for operating businesses without the required professional licenses. The beaches serve over 7,000 visitors daily on weekends, and police officials stated that the measures aim to improve public safety and security.
