Omonia Nicosia expresses interest in Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan

Omonia Nicosia is reportedly monitoring 28-year-old Romanian goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan, who is currently under contract with Atletico Madrid. Italian journalist Lorenzo Lepore reported on June 25, 2026, that Omonia is among several clubs interested in the player. While reports conflict on whether Omonia has submitted a formal bid or is merely observing the situation, it is confirmed that Wieczysta Krakow has made an official offer. Moldovan has previously rejected a move to Qarabag due to disagreements over financial terms. The goalkeeper joined Atletico in 2024 from Rapid Bucharest and has since spent time on loan at Sassuolo and Real Oviedo. He has recorded 16 appearances for the Romanian national team, with his most recent cap earned against Cyprus on September 9, 2025. Despite having one year remaining on his contract, he is reportedly not in the plans of the Madrid club.
