Cypriot Foreign Minister comments on Cyprus problem proposals

Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos stated that reports regarding specific 'formulas' for resolving the Cyprus problem do not warrant formal commentary, as they do not represent agreed-upon positions by the involved parties. Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani, Kombos emphasized that only the actions determined by UN Personal Envoy Maria Angela Holguin and the UN Secretary-General carry official significance. Recent media reports had speculated on a potential 'second Annan Plan' involving the return of Varosha and Morphou in exchange for concessions, as well as a 'loose solution' model. Kombos noted that while individuals may hold various opinions, these do not equate to a common understanding. He awaited the outcome of an upcoming meeting between the UN Secretary-General and Holguin to determine the next steps in the peace process. The Minister stated that the progression depends on whether all parties are prepared to move forward. He reiterated that the Greek Cypriot side has actively sought to promote mobility in the process.
