50th Cypriot swimming championship begins in Limassol

The 50th Cypriot Swimming Championship is taking place from June 26 to June 28, 2024, at the Olympic Swimming Pool in Limassol. The event marks the 50th anniversary of the competition, which was first held in 1976. A total of 155 athletes from eight nautical clubs are participating, aiming for medals, records, and qualification for international competitions such as the Mediterranean Games and the European Championships. The Nicosia Nautical Club holds the largest delegation with 35 athletes, followed by APOEL with 31, the Limassol Nautical Club with 26, and the Famagusta Nautical Club with 21. Other participating clubs include Kyrenia, Paphos, Constantia, and Larnaca. Key athletes, including Kalia Antoniou and Anna Hadjiloizou, are competing, while Nikolas Antoniou is absent as he is currently in the United States. The competition features qualifying rounds at 10:00 and finals at 18:00, with live coverage provided by Cablenet.
