Limassol municipality acquires new beach cleaning equipment
On Wednesday, the Limassol municipality took delivery of a BeachTech 5500 beach cleaning machine. This three-wheeled device features a 1.3 cubic metre loading volume and is designed to filter sand by removing debris such as plastics, glass, and cigarette butts. The purchase was made for 250,000 euros as part of a broader municipal equipment modernization program. Previously, beach maintenance in the city was primarily performed manually and on a infrequent basis. The machine is intended to improve sand quality and service efficiency for residents and visitors throughout the year. Additionally, the municipality has recently undertaken other coastal improvement projects, including the planting of 1,300 trees and the direct management of beach umbrellas and sunbeds at a fixed price of 2.50 euros.
