Fatal incidents in Limassol involving an adult man and a 12-month-old infant
On Saturday, a 57-year-old Russian man was found unconscious in the sea at the Enaerios area in Limassol and was later pronounced dead at a private hospital. Police are investigating the circumstances, noting that an initial examination showed no external injuries. In a separate incident, a 12-month-old boy named Charalambos passed away at Limassol General Hospital last Thursday following a rapid deterioration of his health related to gastroenteritis. Costas Michael of the Limassol CID confirmed that there are no complaints of medical negligence and the police are treating the death as an unnatural death case. An autopsy conducted on Friday did not determine the exact cause of the infant's death, necessitating further histopathological and toxicological tests. The infant’s funeral took place on Saturday at the Archangel Michael church in Limassol, with the parents requesting attendees to wear white. Authorities are continuing to gather statements in both investigations to establish the facts.
