Investigation continues following death of a 12-month-old boy in Limassol
Police in Limassol, Cyprus, are investigating the sudden death of a 12-month-old boy, Charalampos Christofi, who passed away on Thursday night. The child had been diagnosed with gastroenteritis by a pediatrician earlier in the week after developing a fever. Despite receiving treatment, his condition deteriorated, leading his father to rush him to Limassol General Hospital, where he arrived unresponsive and later died despite medical efforts. Limassol CID officer Kostas Michail stated that there are no formal allegations of medical or parental negligence. A post-mortem examination conducted by forensic pathologist Angeliki Papetta on Friday failed to determine the exact cause of death. Consequently, biological, histopathological, and laboratory samples were collected for further analysis. The child's funeral took place on Saturday at the Archangel Michael Church in Monovoliko. The family requested that attendees wear white clothing in memory of the child.
