Irene Loizidou Nikolaidou appointed as director of the Radio Television Authority
The Radio Television and Digital Services Authority has announced the appointment of Irene Loizidou Nikolaidou as its new director, effective June 1, 2026. Born in Nicosia in 1976 and originally from Kyrenia, Nikolaidou holds a law degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MBA from CIIM. She is a certified mediator and previously managed her own law firm. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection starting September 28, 2015. Her background includes extensive involvement in local government as a municipal councillor in Engomi from 2001 until her recent appointment. Furthermore, she served as a permanent member of the Cypriot delegation to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. From 2009 until her new appointment, she acted as Vice President of the Monitoring Committee within the same body.
