New application processing policy for Famagusta District Self-Government Organization
Starting August 1, 2026, the Famagusta District Self-Government Organization (EOA) will implement a new policy for processing planning and building permit applications. According to president Giannis Karousos, all applications will be processed strictly in chronological order based on the date of submission within specific categories. These categories include hotel and tourism developments, residential developments (up to 4 units or more than 4), commercial and industrial projects, requests for deviations, and preliminary inquiries. The system separates applications into physical files submitted before July 1, 2024, and electronic applications submitted from that date onward, maintaining priority within each group. The organization will publish the status and priority of applications on its website while ensuring data privacy protection. Limited exceptions to the chronological order will apply to municipal projects, public utility works, critical public infrastructure, and specific priority cases. This reform aims to standardize procedures, improve transparency, and ensure equal treatment for all applicants.
