New roundabout inaugurated in Protaras

Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades inaugurated a new roundabout on Friday at the intersection of Protaras-Cape Greco Avenue and Thali Street in the Paralimni-Deryneia area of Famagusta. The project is designed to address traffic congestion and improve safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists in the high-traffic tourism zone. In addition to the roundabout, the development includes new pavements, a dedicated cycle lane, signalized pedestrian crossings, improved lighting, and updated road signs. Minister Vafeades stated that the government prioritizes road network upgrades to support economic and tourism activity. He noted that the roundabout had already successfully reduced traffic congestion during the recent Kataklysmos holiday period. The initiative aims to serve the increasing number of residents, workers, and visitors in the district.
