Cypriot athletics championships and Iosif Kesidis records

The 107th Men's and 69th Women's Medochemie Pan-Cyprian Athletics Championships are taking place at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia on June 27-28, 2026. This competition is dedicated to the memory of Antonis Georgallidis, the late general secretary of KOEAS who passed away on April 9, 2026. Hammer thrower Iosif Kesidis achieved a new national record of 78.61 meters at a gold-level international meeting in Zagreb, Croatia, on June 26, 2026, alongside his performance at the GSP Stadium where he set a competition record of 76.50 meters. Marina Chatzikosta also set a new U18 national record in the shot put with a distance of 14.63 meters during the GSP event. Athletes are competing for qualification spots for the upcoming European Championships in Birmingham. Current athletes with secured spots include Iosif Kesidis and Filippa Fotopoulou, while others like Elena Kulichenko, Milan Trajkovic, Olivia Fotopoulou, and Valentina Savva are seeking high rankings to qualify. The event is sponsored by the pharmaceutical company Medochemie.
