Medochemie Cypriot Athletics Championships to be held in Nicosia
The 107th Men's and 69th Women's Medochemie Cypriot Athletics Championships will take place on June 27-28, 2026, at the GSP National Athletics Stadium in Nicosia. The event is rated as a Category B competition by World Athletics, serving as a critical opportunity for athletes to earn ranking points before the qualification deadline for the Birmingham European Championships. Currently, Iosif Kesidis (hammer throw) and Filippa Fotopoulou (long jump) have already secured direct qualification, while other notable competitors including Elena Kulichenko (high jump), Milan Trajkovic (110m hurdles), Olivia Fotopoulou (200m), and Valentina Savva (hammer throw) are aiming for high rankings. The championships are dedicated to the memory of Antonis Georgallidis, the former general secretary of the Cyprus Amateur Athletics Federation (KOEAS), who passed away on April 9, 2026. The competition will feature a mix of experienced athletes and emerging talent. Medochemie serves as the main sponsor for the event, which was officially presented at a press conference in Limassol.
