Olympiacos transfers goalkeeper Balsa Popovic from Red Star Belgrade

Olympiacos has reached an agreement to sign 24-year-old goalkeeper Balsa Popovic from Red Star Belgrade for approximately 1.5 million euros. The Serbian club will retain a sell-on clause as part of the deal. The transfer follows the rejection of an offer by Polish goalkeeper Cezary Miszta, who cited concerns over limited playing time behind Olympiacos starter Konstantinos Tzolakis. Popovic, born in 2000, previously spent three seasons on loan at OFK Belgrade, where he made 105 appearances and was named the top goalkeeper of the Serbian league last season. He stands 1.94 meters tall and is under contract with Red Star until 2028. Olympiacos expects to finalize the move shortly to secure their goalkeeper rotation of Tzolakis, Stournaras, and Popovic for the upcoming season. While reports on the player's age and background vary slightly, with some sources citing him as 26 and others as 24, he remains a long-term target identified by the club's scouting department.
