Reports of James Penrice transfer to Rangers denied by AEK Athens
Scottish website Fitba Zone recently reported that AEK Athens left-back James Penrice has reached an agreement on a three-year contract with Rangers. The report claimed a deal was in place for the 27-year-old player. However, AEK Athens officially refuted these claims, stating they have no basis in reality. The club emphasized that Penrice is under contract with AEK until 2028. Penrice joined AEK from Hearts last summer for a reported fee, with varying accounts stating the transfer cost was either 1.5 million or 2.3 million euros. During his first season with the Greek club, he made 33 appearances and played nearly 2,000 minutes. AEK maintains that coach Marko Nikolic still views Penrice as a key part of the team's plans for the upcoming season, alongside fellow defender Stelios Pilios.
