Allegations of fraudulent university schemes in occupied territories
Saudi news outlets Al Arabiya and Al Hadath have reported on an alleged criminal network operating in the occupied territories. The network is accused of facilitating fraudulent university registrations and issuing fake academic degrees to students. Reports claim that a high-ranking official linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, specifically the Salah Abdel Haq faction, was deported by the local authorities. The individual reportedly served as a director in the office of Salah Abdel Haq, an Egyptian Islamist preacher who has led the London-based wing of the organization since 2023. The scheme allegedly targeted students by promising four-year degree programs but enrolling them for only one year while embezzling remaining funds. Additionally, the network is accused of assisting fugitive Islamists in traveling from Egypt to Turkey. These allegations center on using the occupied area as a transit point for illegal activities. The authorities have not provided comprehensive details beyond the reported deportation.
