DISY party calls for independent criminal investigators regarding 'Mafia State' report
The Democratic Rally (DISY) party has officially requested the government to immediately appoint independent criminal investigators to examine potential offenses identified in the 'Mafia State' report. DISY spokesperson Onoufrios Koullas stated that the investigation must be conducted in full compliance with legal procedures and the rule of law. Alongside the call for an investigation, DISY heavily criticized the AKEL party. Koullas explicitly rejected any political advice from AKEL, citing the party's past history regarding its involvement in various controversies. Specifically, DISY accused AKEL of failing to take responsibility for the Mari naval base explosion, which resulted in 13 deaths, as well as its handling of the economic crisis and the Dromolaxia scandal. DISY asserted that it would only consider AKEL's criticisms valid if the party issues a public apology and engages in self-criticism. The statement emphasizes that DISY maintains its commitment to institutional integrity despite these ongoing political clashes.
