Police search for 35-year-old suspect after attempted murder in Strovolos

Authorities are searching for 35-year-old Ahmed Al Zoueid, who is wanted for the attempted murder of his 38-year-old wife and 58-year-old mother-in-law in Strovolos, Nicosia. The attack occurred on the afternoon of June 27, 2026, leaving both victims with multiple stab wounds; they remain hospitalized in stable condition at Nicosia General Hospital. The suspect has been wanted by police since February due to previous domestic violence charges and failure to comply with court orders. Despite the wife having access to the 'Elpis' mobile app for domestic violence victims, she did not activate the panic button during the incident. Police CID investigators are expanding their search to various locations and have notified the Bi-Communal Committee to ensure the suspect is detained if he crosses into the occupied areas. Currently, authorities are waiting for the victims' medical condition to improve to secure detailed statements regarding the motive and the suspect's whereabouts.
