Cypriot universities report findings in the 2026 Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings
The 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings have recognized two major Cypriot institutions for their contributions to global sustainability goals. The European University Cyprus (EUC) achieved a global ranking of 55th in SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, which the institution cites as its highest-ever international achievement in this field. Meanwhile, the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) improved its overall global standing, moving from the 601-800 bracket in 2025 to the 301-400 range in 2026. TEPAK also secured top-100 placements in two specific categories: 34th place for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and 89th place for SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). TEPAK reports that it ranks first among participating universities in Cyprus and Greece. These rankings evaluate how higher education institutions align their research, education, and community engagement with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. TEPAK further announced plans to establish a Department of Sustainable Development within a new school in Larnaca to support its ongoing commitment to these objectives.
