Missile attacks reported in Kyiv and cross-border shelling exchanges
In the early hours of Sunday, Kyiv faced a ballistic missile attack, prompting the activation of air defense systems and reports of explosions. While Mayor Vitali Klitschko initially reported the incident, head of the military administration Timur Tkachenko later stated that at least two people were injured in the assault. On Saturday, Russian strikes in the Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions resulted in two fatalities. Concurrently, Ukrainian forces conducted strikes on the Russian cities of Volgograd and Belgorod, killing two people, while one individual died in Horlivka, a Russian-occupied part of the Donetsk region. A fire also broke out at the Slavyansk refinery in the Krasnodar region due to debris from a Ukrainian drone. These events are part of the ongoing conflict that began in February 2022, which remains the deadliest in Europe since World War II. Diplomatic efforts to reach a peace agreement have reportedly stalled, while both sides continue to target infrastructure and civilian areas.
