Cyprus reports 4,021 deportations and repatriations in 2026
According to the Cyprus Police, a total of 4,021 foreign nationals without legal residency have been repatriated or deported from the country since the beginning of 2026. This data was confirmed on June 28, 2026. The operations were carried out by the Aliens and Immigration Unit in cooperation with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, known as Frontex. This latest action marks the tenth joint return operation involving Cypriot authorities and Frontex this year. The police stated that these efforts are part of a broader strategy for the effective management of irregular migration. Costs associated with these returns are covered by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. Additionally, officials noted that Cyprus has recorded a high number of relocations among the five Mediterranean EU frontline member states.
