New traffic control systems installed in Aradippou
Mayor Christodoulos Partou announced the activation of traffic lights at three intersections on Ellados Avenue in Aradippou to enhance road safety. The project, which cost 280,000 euros, follows a series of fatal accidents on this road. The intersection at Ivykou and Sergiou & Vakchou Streets became operational on June 24. Two additional sets at the intersections of Georgiou Theotoka Street and Iakovou Patatsou Street are scheduled to go live on Tuesday, June 30. Traffic on parts of Ellados Avenue will be restricted on June 29 and June 30 from 08:30 to 17:00 to facilitate the final installation steps. Pedestrian crossings have also been integrated into these new controlled junctions. The municipality plans to add pavements to both sides of the avenue in the coming two years. Sources conflict regarding the number of fatal accidents, with one report citing several past incidents while another mentions eight within a four-month period.
