Zisis Vryzas appointed as APOEL sports director
APOEL appointed Zisis Vryzas as sports director in early June to oversee the organization and management of the football department. While president Charis Fotiou mentioned the potential for a technical director, the club currently does not view this position as a priority. Recruitment responsibilities remain with the new coach, Nikos Papadopoulos, and the scouting department, following the structure used under previous administration. In a recent interview with the 'Betarades' podcast, Vryzas discussed his transition to administrative roles after his playing career. He highlighted the challenges of these positions in Greek football and the difficulty of implementing long-term plans. Vryzas also revealed that he previously declined a job offer from Panathinaikos to maintain his reputation with fans in Thessaloniki. The club is now focusing on the collaboration between the administration, the sports director, and the head coach to ensure success for the upcoming season.
