Analysis of Cyprus' infrastructure gaps in the face of rapid growth
CEO of Ask Wire, Pavlos Loizou, reports that Cyprus' development has outpaced its administrative and infrastructural capabilities. The nation scores 64 in digital public services, significantly lower than the EU average of 77, indicating a reliance on digitized forms rather than integrated automated systems. While the private sector utilizes real-time data to track market shifts, the state often lags in its analysis. Demographic trends show that approximately one in four residents are foreign nationals. In 2024, net migration was positive by 13,588 people. This influx is creating new demands on housing, transportation, and public services. Loizou suggests that state mechanisms require modernization to support these rapid changes.
