Pakistan conducts cross-border military operations in Afghanistan

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, the Pakistani government initiated a series of ground and air operations targeting locations within the Afghan provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar. The Pakistani Ministry of Information stated these actions were retaliatory measures following recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, including an incident in Karachi that resulted in the deaths of three security personnel. Pakistani authorities claimed that the strikes targeted militant hideouts, specifically identifying the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and reported that 29 militants were killed.
