Drunk driver causes chain collision in Limassol

On Monday, June 29, at approximately 6:20 a.m., a 38-year-old man was involved in a series of traffic collisions on Christodoulou Hadjipavlou Street in Limassol. According to police reports, the driver struck a vehicle ahead of him, triggering a chain reaction involving four other cars. Following the initial impacts, the vehicle mounted the pavement, struck protective bollards, and collided with an electricity pole before coming to a stop. Law enforcement conducted a breathalyser test, which revealed an alcohol level of 97 micrograms per 100 milliliters of breath, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 22. Multiple individuals involved in the incident sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital for medical treatment. The driver was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody. The case is scheduled to be brought before the Limassol district court for legal proceedings.
