Delivery worker organizes rescue for 75-year-old woman during Kallithea house fire
On Sunday, June 28, a fire broke out on the ground floor of a two-story house at the intersection of Aristeidou and Agion Panton streets in Kallithea. An 80-year-old man who was inside escaped through a back garage door. His 75-year-old wife became trapped on the first-floor balcony as flames spread and broke the windows. A delivery worker arrived at the scene and, noticing that onlookers were hesitant to act, coordinated them to form a human net to catch the woman. He urged the woman to jump, assuring her that she would be safe. The woman jumped, holding onto a Greek flag, and was caught by the delivery worker and bystanders, resulting in her rescue. The delivery worker stated that he intervened because the fire was spreading rapidly and the woman had no other means of escape.
