Air Canada pilot incapacitated during flight to Halifax

On June 24, an Air Canada flight carrying 61 passengers from Newark, New Jersey, to Halifax experienced a mid-flight emergency. Approximately 25 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft began making erratic turns, leading passengers to report unusual manual inputs by the pilot. According to passenger Rodney MacDonald, cabin crew members entered the cockpit, removed the pilot, and observed that he was unresponsive with a discolored complexion. Following the initial period of unresponsiveness, the pilot reportedly began acting aggressively, shouting, and striking cabin fixtures. Passengers and crew cooperated to physically restrain the pilot, utilizing seatbelts to secure him. The remaining flight crew successfully took control of the aircraft to manage the situation safely. The pilot's behavior was described by witnesses as consistent with a post-seizure episode.
