Recent traffic incidents and motorway closures in Cyprus

Several traffic incidents occurred in Cyprus between July 1 and July 3, 2026. On July 1, a collision involving a truck, a police patrol car, and a police van occurred near Choirokoitia on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, resulting in minor injuries and the temporary closure of the left lane. On the same day, a young driver crashed into a roundabout at the Macedonia junction in Strovolos, ending up on the central island. Additionally, police scheduled the closure of the Paphos-Limassol motorway between the Kantou and Agios Sylas exits from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on July 2-3 for a reconstruction of a fatal accident involving 29-year-old Dimitris Vasileiou on June 20. Finally, on July 3, a lane on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near Mari was closed due to a mechanical failure in a trailer but was reopened by the morning.
