EURES report identifies labour shortages in Cyprus for 2024

The EURES Labour Shortages and Surpluses Report 2025, published on Monday, analyzes 2024 employment data in Cyprus. The report documents 63 occupations facing labor shortages and 11 roles with a surplus of workers. Severe shortages are concentrated in healthcare, information technology, and tourism. Key roles in high demand include nurses, software developers, systems analysts, medical imaging technicians, and bus drivers. Moderate shortages affect sectors such as retail, construction, and gastronomy, listing accountants, electricians, chefs, and builders among the affected professions. Lower severity gaps were noted for positions like general practitioners, engineers, plumbers, and hotel reception staff. The findings highlight significant pressure on the Cypriot labor market across multiple industries. At the European level, the report notes that labor shortages, while widespread, are concentrated in a limited number of member states.
