36-year-old man sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug possession in Paphos

The Paphos Assize Court sentenced a 36-year-old man to ten years in prison on June 29, 2026, for illegal possession of cannabis with intent to supply. Additionally, the court imposed a three-year prison sentence for reckless driving, with both terms to be served concurrently. The defendant was arrested on May 14, 2025, after a high-speed incident where his vehicle collided with two police cars. Following the crash, authorities discovered a travel bag in his car containing approximately 10.041 kilograms of dried cannabis. Further inspection of the vehicle revealed 0.5 grams of a white powder suspected to be cocaine. Subsequent searches conducted at his residence and a business property under his management uncovered an additional 2.509 kilograms of cannabis. The total amount of seized cannabis reached approximately 12.55 kilograms.
